Going Global! GTCFLA Strengthens International Ties in Australia and New Zealand

From June 22 to 29, a delegation led by PartyCommitteeSecretary Ma Xusheng conducted a successful educational exchange visit to Australia and New Zealand. The visit supported China’s“Vocational Education Going Global” initiative and achieved multiplesubstantial outcomes in international cooperation.

The delegation held extensive discussions with higher education institutions, industry associations, and enterprises.Secretary Ma introduced GTCFLA’s distinctive development approaches, which focus on three key sectors -Public Welfare, Cultural Tourism, and Commerce,supported by five pillars -Foreign Languages, Arts, Early Childhood Education, Baking Technology, and Elderly Care Services.Moreover, he also illustrated the accomplishments made by School of Food Engineering and School of Civil Affairs Service and Management, including the 40+ years of international cooperation in the Catering Program, the“Cantonese Cuisine Master” project, and the policy support for public welfare programs.

Cooperation agreements were reached with several institutions, including The Management Edge,Complete Hospitality Training, William Angliss Institute, and Hays International College in the areas ofcurriculum development, promotion of Cantoneseculinary techniques, introduction of Western culinary programs, and vocational certification training, etc

A major achievement was theinauguration of the“LingnanCatering Workshop” atFareast Enterprisein Australia in partnership with the Australian Chinese Cuisine Industry Association, which aims to mitigate local talent shortage through transnationalindustry-education integration.

The delegation also visitedManukau Institute of Technology in New Zealand, exploring collaboration in joint talent development, student exchanges, Westernculinaryarts, andelderlycare programs. By visiting local retail outlets,training facilities, and industry exhibitions of the two countries, the delegationgained a deeperunderstanding of local sector needs and practices, which offered valuable insights for the College’s international initiatives.

The visithassignificantly advanced GTCFLA’s international presence, resulting in signed agreements, wider recognition, and positive media coverage. Moving forward, theCollege will continue to deepen global partnerships, enhance the internationalized talent deveopment model featuring“language skills+vocational expertise”, and strive to build a model for international vocational education.
